100 Days: 5,000 DollarsHello friends and family members of Project Bones!
Last year you helped us raise over $5,000.00 (US) for cancer research and the Shriners. This year we’ve started a team for WALK MS 2012 in Washington, DC on April 21st and over the next 100 days we hope to do the same thing. Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that affects not only members of our Bones community, but hundreds of thousands worldwide as well. Since DC is the setting for the show, it’s the perfect location for those who wish to walk with us to join forces; knowing that walking is nowhere near as difficult as confronting a lifetime with multiple sclerosis. MS interrupts the flow of information from the brain to the body and wears away the control a person has over his or her body.  When someone is diagnosed with MS, it can dramatically affect their future, their career, and their daily life. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society supports important research projects around the globe and provides much needed education, programs, and services to everyone who is affected by MS - including people living with the disease, their friends and families, and the healthcare professionals who work with them.Walk MS, hosted by the National MS Society, is a fun-filled event that brings friends, families, and coworkers together for a common cause. It will be held in six sites throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area on April 14, 15, and 21, 2012. Our team will be walking on April 21st. That’s 100 days from the day we launched this team and we need YOUR help to get us to our goal! Follow Heather (Gum) on her personal page as she blogs through the days.READY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?There are 3 ways you can join our team: as a walker, a volunteer or virtual participant!
Walker: Commits to walking in DC on the day of the Walk and raising money toward the team goal. You’ll get a personal fundraising page and WalkMS will provide other resources to raise money.
Volunteer: The event won’t run itself and there are plenty of things that can be done on-site on April 21st as a volunteer staff member if walking isn’t your speed.
Virtual Participant: A Virtual Participant is someone who wants to be involved, but cannot attend the actual day of the event. Virtual Participants will still fundraise toward the team goal, but by that label of being virtual WalkMS then knows that they will not be attending the actual Walk. This is a perfect option for our friends in other countries!
You can also visit a team member’s page to make a secure online donation. Don’t forget to talk to your employer about matching gifts or becoming an event sponsor. If you want to help translate the project into other languages, please contact us via our @Project_Bones twitter account!
